How much does it normally cost to have your trumpet cleaned/polished?
Q: I just bought a trumpet (Bach Strad baby!!!). I want to get it cleaned and polished at a average shop. About how much is this going to cost me?
A: If you just bought it, you shouldn't need a professional cleaning for another 10-20 years. Professional cleanings are generally to get rid of the metal and dirt that builds inside of them. With your Strad you should have received the Bach/Selmer cleaning instructions. If not, search around. Cleaning your trumpet is something you do yourself with either just water or water and mild detergent. Same goes for polishing. A good polish cloth shouldn't cost more than $10. Or you can run to Wal-Mart and pick up some silver polish cream and go at it with an old t-shirt or cloth.
