Which brand is better for a beginnet trumpet? The Besson BE709 or a Blessing 126 Bb trumpet?

Q: I will start playing the trumpet and am wondering which brand is better. Also, since the besson trumpet does not come with a mouthpiece, do you have any brand suggestions for a mouthpiece? Thanks!

A: Hey,

I've been playing trumpet for 5 years and have used Yamaha, Bach and Blessing trumpets. I don't know much about the Besson brand of trumpets. But as for the blessing trumpets, it is a bit longer and has a longer copper pipe which makes results in the placement of ur hands a bit further away.

I find this more comfortable for me, and the feel of the instrument is great too.

The Besson has a bigger bell which would add a slight bit of projection. The Blessing trumpet's bell is only 1/4" smaller.

You should personally hold the instrument and try how comfortable it is.

As for mouthpieces I've been using a Bach 7c mouth piece for years. I never thought about changing it, but have recently been looking into Schilke mouthpieces. I think any brand of 7c measurement of mouthpiece is a good start. Different brands have slightly different measurements for the "7c" label. Go to the different websites. They describe how different shallow levels or wider bores would change your sound, feel and tone. Schilke's website describes each mouthpiece:
