Where is the best place to appraise or sell antique wooden Leblanc clarinet?

Q: What is the best place to appraise or sell antique clarinet?
I inherited an old Clarinet from my uncle. It's a wooden Leblanc & I believe it is late 1950's or early 1960's. It's in excellent condition & I am told it is rare. I am trying to sell it but I would like to know what it is worth first. Does anyone have any suggestions on the best place to find out what this clarinet is worth? Thank you in advance!

A: 50's/60's isn't an antique. That's actually pretty modern as clarinets go. I play on a 1920's Conn that also isn't an antique.

Take it to your local clarinet repair tech and he/she can tell you the model and age as well as the playing condition. Some of the Leblanc Paris clarinets are incredibly good playing professional instruments.

Most have a value in playing condition between $400-600. This doesn't include the lower Vito or Noblet models. Some older Leblanc Paris clarinets can be worth well over $1000.

Orland Jr. High student first to finish 45-Book Reading Lists

Orland Jr. High student Anna Knapp set a goal before the start of eighth grade — she would read all 45 books on the two readings lists provided by the school's Media Center, and do it before graduation. The readings lists include 20 titles on the Rebecca Caudill Young Readers book list and 25 titles on the Mock Newbery list. Orland Jr. High students are invited to read the books and can earn prizes for finishing them and correctly answering questions about the content.

"The questions are really conversation starters with the kids," said OJH Media Specialit Amanda Kuzminski. "We like to get them talking about the titles and hear what they think about the books."

Students who read at least 20 books between the two lists are invited to a pizza party at the end of the school year and also earn a special award at the school's Honors Night.
