Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE VINTAGE VENTURA BASS LAWSUIT COPY FENDER JAZZ ,very interesting info ! VINTAGE VENTURA BASS LAWSUIT COPY FENDER JAZZ RELIC Pictured for your interest is a Vintage seventies Lawsuit copy of an American Fender Jazz Bass made in the Fujigen Gakki Factory. There is no serial number just the made in Japan on the neck plate... To learn more about these guitars, please read all the info on my site here: http://www.stratconnection.com/venturaguitars.ht m , and here, http://www.stratconnection.com/grecolawsuit.htm. There is much more info on my site, www.stratconnection.com. To see more pictures of this Vintage model, go here: http://www.stratconnection.com/apps/photos/album ?albumid=8735619 . There are a couple of ways to date this bass. One is that Lawsuit copies didn't start dating or putting serial numbers on there guitars until the late mid 70's, like before 1977. The other way is to look at some of the guitars attributes. This particular bass model has the truss bar adjustment in the head stock... not in the neck heel. But that doesn't necessarily mean it's an after model 70's because we know that truss rod adjustments started in the late 60's as well. Also it's not a CBS copy because it doesn't have the bullet truss rod adjuster, and it's not three bolt.. So I would say this model is a copy of a later 60's like 68 or early 70's like 71, because of the four neck screw plate and the inner allen key adjuster... I can be wrong and I'm sure I'll get a hundred emails on it, which I welcome and will share. Now any of you snubbers who don't understand vintage and are going to write me about my price, don't bother, I won't answer your emails... This auction is for serious collectors...And if you give me any s---t, your going to get it back. One thing I can't tolerate is jealousy and non serious collector types who only think they know what they're talking about.. This is a Vintage Collector Auction.. If your looking for cheap, Ebay has plenty of MIM's and other guitars for sale.. Thank you for not wasting our time. About the electronics, you can see the soldering is original, I must confess I don't know how to date the pot numbers as well on these pots. Also the pickguard has tiny screws rather then your typical pick guard Fender Screws. The tail bridge is original but the plates covering the bridge and the neck pup are new. They are authentic Fender MIJ and fit into the pre-existing holes perfectly and thought it was a nice touch and replacement. The inlays really knock me out, they are smaller and real pearl, you can definately see the quality they used back then... The one tuner has been replaced, and only the crown, not the gear and tank assembly. Looks like the original came off and was lost and an alternate in that day was replaced. It also doesn't have a lock down screw in the crown head, but is fastened to the spline tightly. You don't know how tempted I am to throw a set of Schaller's on the head stock.. But we want to keep it as authentic as possible. I am hunting down a black machine head to match the others. And then again I'm not sure which ones were original, the black or the chrome machine heads. Did you notice the body is One Piece! I can't find a seam anywhere on the body.. It's got to be Ash because it's lighter then Alder and I'm not sure what woods they used back in those days in Japan... It's definately a solid hard wood, not soft like Bass wood or Balsa, as some might think... I have you know, some of the best woods come and came out of Japan, not the USA, and even the US used imported Ashes back in the day...The Gibson company was more into the Maple woods...heavy... The Neck is like the Japanese Penco type 3 Piece Maple. Real solid. You can move a bolder with this neck...You can definately see the seams. If you go to the papatom's pictures and look at the bridge, you'll see I didn't clean it, in fact I didn't use any chemicals or any alterations on this guitar and have kept it just as I bought it. Back in the 60's they used the flat head screw slotted type screws for the bridge saddle height adjusters. Not the hex or allen key type we used latter on and today. One went missing and someone wise enough to know the sizes, installed a newer hex/allen key saddle height adjustment screw in. Only one, and it must have been a while ago, cause it looks aged as well.. I owned an original 1962 Leo Fender Persission bass when I started playing in 1963, together with the porta Flex Ampeg fliptop amp. This bass feels, plays and sounds just like it... I used Ernie Ball flat wound strings, they fit perfect and feel great!..I'm not really an Ernie Ball string guy, I just happened to have a new set in my pile of strings and because they were flat wound, (reminiscent of that day) I threw them on. The wider humbucker type pups are great sounding and in perfect condition. After all these years, I know this bass was well played by it's battle wounds and scars, but also well cared for by the true musician that owned and loved it because it played so well. Those are the only three non original things I can find on this Relic late 60's early 70's Ventura Lawsuit Fender Jazz Bass copy. The plates, which I added, the bridge saddle screw, and the chrome machine head... I put it in a just deserved Fender G&G hardshell case. I don't know what to ask for this Vintage piece.. What does anybody know what to ask for antiques or rare finds that are a precious part of our one time lives. I can only start the auction with what I would except for it to part with it. It's all according to what one will want to pay according to it's availability, rarity, and collectability.... Shipping will be anyway you want it as long as you pay for it. Do some research as well. $3,780.00 only
